Htc HD2 Launches Before the Christmas Rush by Simon Drew
Its only October but HTC is bringing its fans an earlier holiday treat by releasing the HTC HD2. If you have not heard of the original HTC Touch and missed out on the amazing touch screen experience provided by the HTC Sense user interface, then you are in luck because the HD2 brings back everything that made the Touch a great mobile device but with even more features, better hardware and an amazing Capacitive Multi Touch Screen.
There is still no confirmation as to which mobile features of the HD2 make full use of the multi touch input, but we are guessing that the HTC Sense has been tweaked for it. The real potential comes from the upcoming Windows Mobile 7. The HD2 should be able to upgrade the default Windows Mobile 6.5; that promises a new and exciting mobile phone experience for HD2 users.
HD in Mobile Phones
The 4.3 inch capacitive multi touch screen used by the HD2 is one of the largest and best screens used for a mobile device. It can display over 16 million colors with its 480 x 800 pixel WVGA resolution. It’s useful for watching high definition video and viewing high resolution photos. You will be taking photos with the built in 5 mega pixel camera with auto focus and dual LED flash. Media playback is one of the main specialties of the HTC HD2 and thanks to the large display, it does that amazingly well.
Other Specifications and Features
One major add-on that HTC did is the integrated web applications. There are specialized apps for accessing YouTube, Facebook and Twitter allowing you to instantly post to your account or update your status instantly. This makes sharing and receiving media with your friends and family fast and easy. The Opera Browser is one of the best mobile web browsers and it’s an excellent alternative to the slow and unreliable Internet Explorer mobile.
Going online is easy with GPRS, 3G HSDPA, EDGE and Wi-Fi network capabilities. Lastly, HTC is fully supporting the built in GPS hardware with HTC navigation softwares; the HTC Footprints, Digital Compass and the NaviPanel.
The Soul of HD2
Running this behemoth of a mobile phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon. Boasting 1Ghz of processing speed, this processor will easily run most mobile applications. The only concern you will have is conserving the 512MB of internal memory. You will definitely need to get a high capacity SD card for large media files and other applications you might have.
